After weeks of rumors Valve has finally announced Counter Strike new. It's an update to CS:GO that will bring the game onto the Source 2 engine and make some significant visual changes.
It also brings sub-tick server updates as well as smoke grenades that respond to. It's made a lot armchair gamers crazy however, it appears to be an upgrade for the average player.
Smokes
Counter Strike New is getting a major update that will completely change the smoking system used in the game. The changes, which are dubbed responsive smokes, will be an important game changer. Smokes will expand to fill in areas and move across the map in a variety of ways. They will also respond to the lighting of the game, which makes their appearance more appealing and realistic. In addition to these new features, smokes are now be capable of interfacing with game events and will offer new tactical opportunities. Each of these tiny intervals of time will be recorded by the client and sent to the server, which will then transmit the latest game state to players. The servers will know when you fired a shot or jumped, or swung, or pounced.
The video does not provide all the information. However it does state that every piece of data sent by the client has a date and time and that the server collects all information in chronological order from all players prior to sending it back. According to the video, a CS: GO will be capable of sending twice as much information as a 64-tick CS: GO.
This means that even the tick rate of the game increased to 128 Hz, the game will still be able handle your commands instantly. Micro-tick updates also decrease the time it takes to input by making sure that the server responds to your actions without any glitches or delays.
Valve's technical enhancements to the game are just the beginning. The company employs particles and smoke that are dynamic to improve the way smoke interacts with its surroundings. Maps
The next update for Counter Strike New brings new maps and a few classics that have been updated with facelifts. The updates are currently being tested in limited beta.
